Jib español

We made this jib taking as it bases other published planes on Internet.
It is constructed with aluminum tubes. The bracket of support and the crossbeams are square hollow tubes, and both that forms the pen are circular.

The unions are screws. Those black little things that are seen in the photos, are arandels of felt, to avoid the noise that produces the friction. It is necessary to put special attention when doing the holes, so that they are aligned, because if not, the camera horizon will change depending on the height of the jib.

The support of the camera is made with an iron plate and a welded tube, that is screwed to the crossbeam of the end of the pen. A excessive gross weight of about two kilos. We will modify it by a lighter one that will be adjustable.

We have planned to build other supports that allow turns in vertical, horizontal or directly the tripod head. As it is possible to handle it from the ground, or stairs, is not essential to have remote-head like controls.

The bracket is quite simple, as you can see in the photo. All the unions are done with screws.

The base of jib is an old office chair, clearing the seat and the endorsement. They are three pieces:
- The one that was screwed to the seat it is united to the base of the bracket.
- the legs continue acting their as.
- the tube that allowed to vary the height of the chair (metallic color in the photo), can separate of the legs, and we can adapt it on our big light supports. Thus we were able to have the axis of jib to more than four meters of height!

For the counterbalances we used gymnasium weights, that fit in the same tube of the pen. We had to screw an extra tube of the diameter of the weights. It is important that they are well secured, because they are very dangerous. In order to fine-balance the jib we moved one of the weights, moving away it or approaching it to the axis. For our XL1s (about 2 kg) and other 2 kg of the base of the camera, we used a counterbalance of 10 kg.

And look what little gets when fold :)
